Inventory Itemized: Counting

liquor bottles on shelves in a bar

Counting your liquor inventory is a huge pain point for many bars and restaurants. For something that seems so easy, why does it feel so difficult to do accurately and efficiently? The answer lies in something many people on the outside of the industry don’t take into account. The variables of your environment.

Bars and restaurants are inherently hectic. If you own, run, or work in one, that goes without saying. The fast paced environment makes it extremely easy to let details slip through the cracks. It isn’t anybody’s fault for doing so, it’s just a side effect of the business. Counting liquor bottles is one of the more meticulous parts of running a bar, but also one that usually can’t get the full attention it deserves. On average, it takes managers and employees around 2 hours to go into the back room with a pen and paper and fully count your liquor inventory. That simply can’t be done all at once in a restaurant or bar, and leads to tons of starting and stopping and losing track of what’s been done and what hasn’t.

There’s also not a universally agreed upon “best way” to count. Some bars keep it old school and use pen & paper to keep with tradition (as outdated as it may be), some gauge it with the eye test and more or less spitball on the ordering sheet, and some have turned to technology to help with easing the process. But finding which softwares or systems can be most beneficial to your bar can be a real struggle. Until now.
BarMinder is easy to learn, and easy on the lives of you and your employees.  Centered on a wireless liquor pour spout, The BarMinder Inventory System tracks every bottle from when it enters the establishment until it goes into the trash. By combining data from the spouts about every drop being poured at the bar with real-time counts of every bottle in storage, BarMinder lets you never have to count another bottle of liquor. Ever.  Just slap a sticker to the neck of the bottle and check it into the system, your inventory is complete and provided to you in real-time on our hub at your bar or anywhere in the world on your phone. No more incorrect counts, no more hours wasted on counting bottles. You and your staff can focus on caring for customers, and BarMinder will let you know when there’s something you can do to make more money.
